Here is a finished design for an iOS app in the health/wellness category.
In collaboration with Anthony Hall, the art direction was to be skeuomorphic and we're really happy with the result.

I would have trouble recognizing this as a pill at smaller sizes.
I have to agree with @Martin Sorensen. Is that supposed to be a pill? If so, it's not apparent enough in my opinion. Partially because of the container it's sitting in, as well as the high gloss it has.

Nice. Seemed pretty obvious to me it's a pill.
I could easily tell that this was a pill even out of context. By context I mean viewing this in the App Store with the app name, description and screenshots. Users rarely encounter app icons without some form of supporting context.
