Have you seen the iOS 7 calendar icon? CRINGE! Flat design is about simplicity and therefore efficiency.

I just happend to read an article on long shadows :D
BAM and here one is :D
I always wonder if flat design should have a slight gradient.
or maybe it should be as simple as possible?
I'd also but in some background image, you see alot of blurred background, it makes your design popout more then the invisiblity grid :D
@Jason Teunissen I'd be interested to read that article if you have a link.
I almost feel like having any sort of gradient defeats the purpose, but it will be interesting to see where the trend goes and if there ends up being a mix of skeu and flat eventually.
Thanks for the feedback!
I think this is the article was:
We also looked into the flat design for the Punchclock icon ( http://drbl.in/gYcR ) but it seemed to have a kind of unfinished look when it was just the colour (without the gradient, noise and deph).
But then again now that there are more flat designs, it may just be us having to adjust our mental models to that kind of design trend.
Hmm interesting. It's a leap for sure, but if you don't love it (in regards to your icon) something still isn't finished.
