24,000 Brandable .com Domains

My friend Kevin Ohashi is a civic hacker who analyzes data to find hidden patterns and insights that nobody else seems to realize are there.

He has created interesting projects like Review Signal, a social media sentiment engine that was talked up on TechCrunch.

He recently compiled a list of 24,000 brandable domain names that anyone could register.

The post was picked up by Kevin Rose and tweeted to his 1.2 million twitter followers.

The post received 17,000 page views, ranked 3rd on HackerNews front page and landed on 2nd place in a major subreddit that has over 30,000 subscribers.

Since Kevin Rose tweeted that the text based list made his eyes cross, I thought that it would be fun to layout the domains with the @Designmodo Flat UI color grid to make it easer and more fun to scan through. 8 )

UI notes: The compass icons under the domain names mean that the domain is available. The Twitter icons mean that the twitter name is available. The user could click on the icons to register either. The layout could be fully responsive and produce random results by just pushing a randomizer button or something simple like that.

Would love to hear any and all feedback on this post.

Thanks for reading and sharing!
