Might as well stand out a little bit, right?

The original is better. IMHO. :)
I liked it, too, but it clashed terribly with the iOS7 backgrounds! We haven't made the change official, yet - we haven't decided. Plus, the app isn't even available on iOS yet.
@Chris Lackey I see, but there's something that I strongly believe in, it's that third party app developers shouldn't be overly-inspired and touched by iOS 7, because we will end up like Windows Phone. All apps look the same. So difference is good, too!
Absolutely something to keep in mind - I did a little customization and kept a little bit of the beveled look with shadows, so it would stand out among the flatlanders.
The original was beautiful. ONLY remove bottom shadow. Keep the rest. Outstanding means that the app is easier to find in flat mess, think about it. Because we can out stand from the flatness.
@Piotr Denis - The bottom shadow was only for this demo - in the Google Play Store and installed it doesn't have it! Oddly enough, from non-designers, the feedback has been very positive on the new version. Seems like there's a large split! Thanks for your take!
& we don't need to stand out from the flatness by looking out of place - that doesn't seem like a good solution to me - I will be interested to see how other designers handle the changeover this fall.
