    My goal was to draw unique yet visually straight forward figures. I never had a clue that drawing a female figure would be so hard.

    What triggered the similarity for me was probably the rounded shape of the guy, something that I found existing in Isotype (see: http://gerdarntz.org/node/117) and that isn't somewhat missing from usual "stylized" human figure shapes. :)

    I think I get you now. Basically, at any pictogram that you look, similarities can be found, reason for that are objects that resemble our metaphors.
