Man it's been *so long* since I've faked a real world object in Photoshop, feels good to go nuts with layer effects and blend modes and the like.
Shouldn't be too hard to guess what it's for...

Very nicely done. I did read it as CBCH, though, like a compass.
I agree with drew about the CBCH thing, but man-o-man that is a tasty mark! nice work.
Nice work man, love the branding effects.
ooooooohhhhh, thats nice.
I will follow you because of this shot.
Sweet mark. But can be interpreted as CCHB or CBCH over CHBC imo.
Thanks all. Good call on the way it's read, I hadn't considered how the compass would influence the letter order. Not sure that I need to be worried about that too much, since it'll likely be used with the full name adjacent.
Very impressive effect work.
I have no guesses as to what it's for. Should I know?
I guess I'm assuming the grains give it away. Maybe if they were hops it'd be even more obvious?
It is interesting to see all the comments on how the letters are perceived. It's something that you'll never fully realize until it's tested. I only bring this up because I read HCBC, left-to right. Another important factor of a product brand is that unlike a web/screen image, the angle & perspective could always be skewed.
I'm reminded of this awesome logo that always reads the same way: teet-milk
