WIP icon for the Strongspace mark I developed recently. This leverages the final artwork and color selections. Still working on the shading, textures, & lighting.
@Dave: The only thing that kinda bums me out is when people say this looks like the HTML5 logo, when I already had this done before that ever came out.
The only minor suggestion I have is reworking the drop shadow below the 'shield'. With the level of shading at the bottom of the grey/orange icon the subtle and soft shadow at the bottom seem like it could use a bit more of an edge.
Philbert,
I really like the concept of this but I can't get the 3D tower aspect out of my mind from your original one. Am I incorrect in saying that you're going for a "flat" logo that is beveled up? If so, it would make sense (to me) to change the angles of your "S" insets to be straight across, versus the angled look that makes it seem like a tower again.
That probably doesn't make sense and you probably don't care to change the logo that's already in use ... regardless, I like this. :)
@Dave: The client digs it. It's great because he follows along here on Dribbble which raises some interesting conversations as the community responds.
@Jonathan: I see what you're saying. The shadow is in there because I wanted to see how it would look as a desktop icon in OSX. I'll tidy that area up so the bottom maintains it's crispness.
@Simon: That HTML5 logo, it just won't go away! :)
@Chandler: I see what you're getting at, but the "S" insets look better angled than straight. I will be tweaking this a bit more to make sure there aren't any optical illusions with the angles & bevels though.

Love it. We all know you rocked this style long before the HTML5 logo came along.

looks great, although some of the shading/levels mess with the eye a bit. The angles don't seem like they make sense.

This is highly 3 Dimensional to me. Like popping off the page strong.

How much did that suck when you saw the HTML5 logo? That would have drove me nuts.
At least we know you had it first!

@Phil, nah this is way better. They very loosely resemble each other.
How did the client respond to it? That's all that matters.

Great looking logo! I love the depth it has. The slight texture is a great touch as well.

Looks sick Phil, and don't let the HTML 5 comments get you down. If anything you're being forward thinking. HTML 55 all the way!
