First design proposal for a blog design. Light and minimal was the direction I had to think here, even in terms of color usage. At least that was my thinking. But even when I try this, I always get the feedback I need to add more color :) Maybe I always exaggerate in the other direction, and so I end up with a design that can use a bit more color.
Thanks everyone for the comments and valuable feedback :) I love the idea of using a combination of saturation and brightness of the blue. WIll try this out. Thanks @Terry Acker.
@Oliver Hood and @Eddie Wilson thanks for the tips.

I like to stick with one hue, but use any combination of saturation and brightness. That can make a single "color" interesting.

Not a big fan of the text-shadow on the body copy... makes it harder to read. :S
Digging the color though, there's nothing wrong with single color. :)

The kerning on the Helvetica Neue is so nice.

What you might be looking for is an accent color, a complementary tone but used sparingly. For example if the date "tag" was a warm tone.

This is beautiful, I love the flag on the date. :D And I think the text-shadow on the body copy is subtle and lovely. Nice job as always.

If there was going to be another colour used surely a slightly desatured 'post-it' yellow would be work on the date box?

Loving that arrow treatment, and the type in general.

A sharp use of CSS3 inset shadows on your mind? That's great anyway !

Already been said, but I'm loving that date flag. Looking forward to the saturation/brightness rebound.

I screwed up the rebound because I had to cancel and re-upload my image and the rebound link got broken.
