Before the birth of our daughter Sabrina, we were told to to be aware of the facts: that the delivery success rate of a child born with HPE (holoprosencephaly) is less than 6%, and that most of those who do survive, do not usually make it to 6 months of age. Which is probably why (I’m willing to bet) you’ve never heard of it.
Never tell me the odds.
Sabrina is now 8 years old, and although she is, in many ways, much like an infant, she has taught my wife and I more about life, love, and the ability to survive past seemingly unsurmountable hardships. From her, I have learned how to appreciate the little things in life. From her, I have learned how to live, and every birthday we tell her that the entire country is celebrating with us when the fireworks light up the sky in the same way that she has lit up our hearts.

Though I don't find this shot particularly compelling from a design standpoint, I applaud Ali for doing something real with Dribbble. We could stand to have more stuff like this to drown out the vast ocean of SNES controllers and social media icons.

Of all the crap on Dribbble, 2 people are going to complain about the relevance of this? Give me a break. And by the way, IT DEPICTS AN EVENT THAT JUST HAPPENED. How much more relevant are you going to get?
To Ali, I love this. I could see it being used on a billboard, no other text required. It says what it needs to and nothing else. And it brings a little friendliness to an otherwise morbid event.
