   @Si Jobling Yeah the noise is too much, and too "Photoshopy" for my taste. I may overlay a proper texture later, but even then sometimes I find it doesn't suit my illustration style.

    Thanks folks! It seems *real* vanilla ice cream tends to have a light buttery/creamy colour (plus teeny tiny vanilla seed bits). But a typical ice cream sandwich normally has the more artificial white "iced milk" (?) stuff, so I may change the tone to match that.

    I don't usually work in this many gradients and shadows anymore, but I thought I'd try something different for this extreme closeup. The ice cream may look too buttery though. I'm hungry now...
