    Hey guys, trying to code this and not having any luck with that background - any ideas on how to accomplish this?

    I need it to stay just to the text, not be block display and just a big square. I've tried a span, but you can't pad it (and the opacity overlays and looks like crap). I found a site that was doing it, but they had just broken the headline up into sub h2 tags (not so nice for dynamic text).

    I'm thinking maybe doing this browser side with some jQuery? No luck finding anything though. I'd love some thoughts/ideas!
