   While I think this is a move in a better direction (as it has more character and a unique quality), something tells me a more hand-drawn look will still imply what the Relay brand needs, while stiill getting away from the few characteristics about the old logo that looked similar to your competitor.

   Not sure if this makes it more compelling... I like the new R, but miss the old y; I wonder if the all-caps foods would have been a better fit in an italic (the ascenders don't want to play nice with the main wordmark). It doesn't feel like it locks up yet. Also, the centered layout feels waaaaay conservative to me.

   Looking at the whole JPG, I like the bottom option best, though I still miss the old y.

   Would a hand-drawn type solution work better, for the sake of the lockup as well as adding some story and fun? Or is that too trendy?

   Sorry, man - I get how much of a grind this can be.

    The texture behind the number is really nice and atmospheric. I also like the clean lines of the typography. Did you ever consider matching the angle of the color blocks to the angle of the typeface diagonals? Might be nice to really tie the system together. Really though, great work!

    i didn't see the full body version first, and i have to say i'm having trouble finding the face in this one. Your work is rad, don't get me wrong - I just cant find the face. I think the semi-vertical eye is throwing me off.
